Dragonflight (Dragonriders of Pern - Volume 1) Anne McCaffrey on. Destroying livestock, crops and anyone foolish to be out and not under the cover of stone.
Redirected here from another forumHello all! I'm getting mixed messages from my own research into this so hoping this community can clarify. How many editions of Dragonflight by Anne McCaffrey were printed by Easton Press and was either edition signed?
I see two distinct covers when looking into this topic (one with dragons, one with a web pattern) It seems like the older edition (cover with dragons) was printed in 1988 and was not issued signed while a later (promotional?) copy of Dragonflight (cover with a web pattern) was issued signed. Are both (or more) editions considered part of the Masterpieces of Science Fiction or is only one of the editions considered part of that collection?Any clarity on the two versions and their issuance as signed/unsigned copies as part of the MoSF collection would be greatly appreciated! Wootle, thank you for the info. I recently purchased a version of Dragonflight on an online auction which showed the book as sealed and was listed as Signed but has the webbing on the cover.

A pamphlet much like what I've seen come with other Easton Press books is pictured as well. Is the booklet typically within the sealing within the book or sent separately? I'm now concerned the item was mislabelled if it is not possible for the webbing cover version to be signed.By the way, Wootle, the ID numbers in your post suggest you grabbed those from a master list of some sort.
Would that be located in one of these forums?I originally posted this in Book Talk not realizing this was the right forum for the question. I do not believe I have seen the web version as a signed edition at any time, so I believe the seller just assumed a signature on the sealed book. So you should open it and try to get your money back if unsigned, if it isn't to late. I suppose it is possible for it to be signed, but I would check and see. That's a good question about the insert, I rightly can not remember if they are inside or outside of the packaging, it has been a long time since I have received anything from the MOSF series. I believe they are inside the cover, as they are on the present day books however.I do not believe there is a MOSF master list within the forum as of yet. If you do some googling you can probably find a list out there.
I do have a comprehensive list, but I think I pulled from multiple sources to try and get the most accurate one I could. Most definitely released at least twice, and possibly a third time if you are seeing one with only a signed bookplate, instead of a signed page. Although it may just be EP using up leftover stock from the first release, before sending out the nicer signed page edition under the new number.
